Emiko A. Kluczynski, 84, of Toledo, OH, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016, in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Emiko Hirata, born December 5, 1931, met her lifetime love, Frank E. Kluczynski, when he was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. The young Japanese-American couple married on February 10, 1954 and eventually settled in Toledo, Ohio. They were only separated by Frank’s death on December 10, 2000. Emiko’s life was her family and her faith. She instilled in her children her quiet dignity and respect for all cultures. Her ready smile and helping hands are deeply missed.

She was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, where she was active in the Rosary Altar Society, Salesians Club and the Lunch Bunch Group. She was also a member of the Whitmer Alumni. Emiko enjoyed sewing clothes and costumes for her kids, family travels, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends.

She is survived by her children, Paul (Jennifer) Kluczynski, Gary (Renee) Kluczynski, Karen (Terry) O’Leary, Anna (Randy) Neubauer, Suzanne (Bill Vas) Born; brothers, Akihiro, Takenori, Kuniyuki and Mamoru Hirata; sister, Masako Hasegawa; grandchildren, Dylan, Dalton, Derek, Allyssa, Ashlee, Brittany, Brian, Jamie, Julie, Danielle, Matthew, and Rachel; great grandchildren, Sienna, Cora, Brady, Chloe, Zac, Max and Logan.

She was preceded in death by her parents Sadazi and Chika (Koga) Hirata and her brother Takatoshi Hirata.
